Vacations In Exeter

When the majority of folk discuss vacations in Britain they frequently only consider resorts close to the sea such as Whitby, Weston-super-Mare, Bognor Regis and Torquay. Occasionally folk might discuss having a short break in a specific English county for example Devon in south England but not very often do they think about having a vacation in the city of Exeter. This article introduces various reasons why a vacation in Exeter is a great idea.

The most important reasons for having a holiday in Exeter is that there is budget accommodation available with Exeter bed and breakfast accommodation available for approximately £25 a night and plenty of places around the £40-50 mark.

Of course there has to be more than a minimal price to interest you to visit a city and Exeter definitely has loads to offer the possible tourist. Plus you will find that there are masses of breathtaking places to visit all along the nearby coast.

Where To Stay In Exeter

The Drewe Arms
This hotel is excellent, the rooms are budget but the building itself is a beautiful 17th century thatched inn on the Two Moors Way (a walkers route). Please take notice that it is about fifteen miles away from Exeter’s city center. If you need more luxury there are four-poster rooms available.

The Crawford hotel
This hotel is much closer to Exeter’s city center, just over one and a half km. It is a 2 star hotel with comfortable en suite rooms and, crucially, twenty four hour access to rooms, which is superb if you are going to be getting back very late or you need access during the day. If required there is Free wireless internet access in public areas of the hotel.

Visitor Attractions

In Exeter there are just a small number of visitor attractions worth a visit including; Rougemont Castle, St Peter’s Cathedral and the Royal Albert Museum. As I mentioned earlier in this article there is a selection of close by seaside towns to see the finest being the old-fashioned villages of Seaton, Sidmouth and Beer.

Further away, between Plymouth and Exeter is the sparsely populated moorland of the Dartmoor National Park with the overall area having a fair few places worth considering including Buckland Abbey, Buckfast Abbey and A La Ronde on the main route, to Plymouth. Along the way you will pass the Torbay area, which consists of Paignton, Brixham and Torquay and is frequently called the English Riviera region.

Exeter truly is a brilliant place in which to take a vacation but why not have a think about having a twin destination vacation and spend a few of nights in a nice Plymouth hotel and tour the gorgeous coastline in between these two vacation destinations?
